Highlights
This review provides an in-depth overview of mass spectrometry (MS)-based approaches in structural lipidomics, focusing on techniques for resolving lipid isomers such as C=C bond positions, sn-locations, and acyl chain modifications. Different analytical workflows for structural lipidomics are also discussed, including shotgun lipidomics, chromatography-MS based workflows, isomer-resolved MS imaging and data analysis methods. In terms of application, lipid metabolism and biomedical applications are presented.
